Welcome to Night Vale, the podcast presented as a radio show for the fictional town of Night Vale is coming live to the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall!
Welcome to Night Vale is podcast that runs twice a month and takes the form of community updates for the small desert town of Night Vale. It features local weather, news, announcements from the Sheriff's Secret Police, mysterious lights in the night sky, dark hooded figures with unknowable powers, and cultural events. The series was created in 2012 by Joseph Fink and Jeffrey Cranor and in an interview Joseph said that he “came up with this idea of a town in that desert where all conspiracy theories were real, and we would just go from there with that understood.” The podcast is narrated by Cecil Baldwin (an actor/performer from New York City), its music is provided by Disparition (a project created by Brooklyn-based composer and producer Jon Bernstein), and the podcast logo is done by Rob Wilson (famed illustrator and graphic designer whose client list includes Dell, HarperCollins, Variety, The Wall Street Journal, and many more). The live version of the podcast debuted in October 2013 and 2 years later Joseph and Jeffery released a podcast-based novel
Don’t miss your chance to see the live show based on a podcast that’s been described as “the news from Lake Wobegon as seen through the eyes of Stephen King.”
