Samuel Benjamin Harris was born in Los Angeles in 1967 and is a cognitive neuroscientist, philosopher, author, and non-profit executive. He has degrees in philosophy and neuroscience from Stanford University and UCLA respectively and he's written 7 best selling books : The End of Faith: Religion, Terror, and the Future of Reason (2004), Letter to a Christian Nation (2006), The Moral Landscape: How Science Can Determine Human Values (2010), Lying (2011), Free Will (2012), Waking Up: A Guide to Spirituality Without Religion (2014), and Islam and the Future of Tolerance (2015). He's also written for many renowned publications such as The New York Times, Time, Scientific American, Nature, Rolling Stone, The Los Angeles Times, The Economist, The Times (London), The Boston Globe, The Atlantic, and The Annals of Neurology. He's best known as a critic of religion, a proponent of secular meditation, and for hosting Waking Up; a podcast on which he explores important and controversial questions about the human mind, society, and current events. It won the 2017 Webby Award (for People's Voice in the Science and Education category) and it was also included on Business Insider's 2017 list of '8 podcasts that will change how you think about human behavior'.
