Paul Albert Anka was born in Ottawa in 1941 is a singer, songwriter, and actor. He began his musical journey by singing in his church choir and he also studied music theory and learned to play the piano as a child. He started doing impressions, writing his own songs, and he would steal the family car to drive to amateur singing contests. He recorded his first (I Confess) when he was 14 years old. While on a trip to New York City in 1957, Paul auditioned for record producer Don Costa by singing one of his own songs (Diana). Don liked it so much he recorded it and the song launched Paul’s career as it rocketed to #1 on the Canadian and U.S. music charts. Diana went on to become one of the best-selling singles ever by a Canadian artist and Paul followed it up with 4 Top 20 hit singles; It's Time to Cry, Crazy Love, You Are My Destiny, and (All Of a Sudden) My Heart Sings. At 17 Paul had become one of the biggest teen idols of the time and he went to have a stellar career with numerous albums and singles.
