Lyle Pearce Lovett was born in Klein (Houston) in 1957 and is a country singer-songwriter and actor. He began his musical journey by writing songs while he was studying journalism and German at Texas A&M University in the late 70s. As a student he performed covers and original songs at local folk festivals and clubs and after graduating he travelled to Germany to pursue higher education. He continued to write songs and perform while he was in Europe but he didn’t start to seriously develop a professional music career until he returned to the US in the early 80s. He kept honing his craft by playing at clubs all over Texas and his hard work paid off when got a record deal in 1986. He released his eponymous debut album in the same year and it was critically acclaimed with 5 of its singles (Farther Down the Line, Cowboy Man, God Will, Why I Don't Know, and Give Back My Heart) landing in the top 40 of Billboard’s Hot Country songs chart. He’s had a stellar career with 12 more albums and he’s won 4 Grammy Awards.
