Los Tigres Del Norte, California’s sensational Latin music artists are bringing their signature sounds to the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall!
Los Tigres Del Norte was formed in San Jose in 1968 by vocalist and accordionist Jorge Hernández and his brothers and cousins. The band’s been through a few line up changes over the years and it currently consists of Jorge (band leader, lead vocals, and accordion), Hernán Hernández (bass and vocals), Eduardo Hernández (accordion, saxophone, bajo sexto, and vocals), Luis Hernández (bajo sexto and vocals), and Óscar Lara (drums). Their musical style is best described as a blend of corridos (a popular narrative song and poetry form, often about oppression, history, daily life for peasants, and other socially relevant topics) and norteño (a genre of Mexican music - related to polka and corridos - with the accordion and the bajo sexto as its main instruments). They’ve had a stellar career with 50 studio albums, 1 extended play, 30 singles, and they’ve collaborated with many renowned artists such as Alejandro Sanz, Gloria Trevi, J Balvin, Hermanitas Rodarte, Lupita Alatorre, Marco Antonio Solis, and Don Francisco. They’ve received many accolades including 5 Grammy Awards (for Best Banda or Norteño Album, Best Regional Mexican Music Album - including Tejano, Best Mexican/Mexican American Album, and 2 for Best Norteño Album).
