K.D. Lang, Canada's sensational country and pop artist is bringing her signature sounds to the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall!
Kathryn Dawn Lang was born in Edmonton (Alberta, Canada) in 1961 and is a singer, songwriter, and occasional actress. Her musical style is best described as a blend of contemporary country (a sub genre of country music that primarily draws from classic honky tonk, but also boasts all the advantages of updated production techniques and equipment, proving that pure country music can sound authentic yet modern), alternative country (a sub genre of country music that incorporates influences ranging from roots rock, bluegrass, rockabilly, honky-tonk, alternative rock, folk rock, and punk rock), neo traditional country (a sub genre of country music that emphasizes the instrumental background and a traditional country vocal style), adult alternative pop/rock (a branch of alternative rock - emerging after the genre's absorption into the mainstream – featuring a smooth, melodic, radio friendly style that packages alternative's mellower side for wider consumption), and adult contemporary (popular radio music, ranging from 1960s vocal and 1970s soft rock music to predominantly ballad heavy music of the present day, with varying degrees of easy listening, pop, soul, rhythm and blues, and rock influence). She's has a stellar career with 12 studio albums and she's won many Grammy Awards and Juno Awards.
