Bill Engvall, Texas’ sensational and multi talented comedian is bringing his indelible comedy to the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall!

William Ray "Bill" Engvall, Jr. was born in Galveston (Texas) in 1957 and is a stand up comedian and actor. He started dabbling in comedy by performing at amateur and open mic nights around Dallas while working as club DJ. In 1990, he moved to California to pursue a career in and started to get mainstream recognition with appearances on TV shows such as A Pair of Jokers, The Golden Girls, The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson, and the Late Show with David Letterman. His comedic style is best described as a blend of country comedy, observational comedy, satire and he jokes about a variety of topics such as Southern American culture, everyday life, marriage, parenting, and self deprecation. His breakthrough came in 1992 when he won an American Comedy Award (for Best Male Standup) for playing the character Matthew Devereaux (the son of Blanche Devereaux on an episode of The Golden Girls). He went on to join the renowned comedy troupe, the Blue Collar Comedy Tour (also featuring Ron White and Jeff Foxworthy). The tour was a huge success, was on the road for 6 years, and spawned an album, live DVD, and 3 films.
